'Azhagana Naalgal' |
Kartik
and Simran team together for the first time in a film titled 'Azhagana Naalgal'.
Says Simran, "I've been a fan of Kartik's, but somehow I never got an offer
to act with him. I'm thrilled about working with him finally". Writing the
story-screenplay-dialogue and directing the film is Sunder C. Kartik has always
been a dependable actor and filmmakers who have roles with substance go to him.
He is one of those few actors who have not set a limited image. Action, comedy,
and emotion - all come to him easily. But Kartik's teaming up with Sunder C. has
resulted in his mostly playing the role of the impersonator. Though the duo did
give some interesting films like 'Ullathai Allithaa'.
Mumtaz who has become the hot favourite of
filmmakers for second lead roles plays a crucial role in this film. Manivannan,
Vivek, Pyramid Natarajan, Joti, and Kaka Radhakrishnan have been added to the
cast. The
film is produced by Selvan who has been an art director for the past 18 years.
Deva sets to tune the lyrics by Vairamuthu. G.K. designs the sets while Sai
Suresh edits the film.
Some scenes were shot on Kartik, Simran and
Goundamani. Murali is a veterinary doctor and Desabandhu is his compounder. The
duo takes the local train to the hospital every day. Travelling by the same
train is Anjali, whose charm attracts Murali. He makes up his mind to break the
ice and introduce himself to her. One day after Anjali gets down from the train,
Murali and Desabandhu follow her. Murali asks Desabandhu for some idea, by which
he can impress Anjali and get close to her. Sunddenly a car passes by them, and
they hear a woman screaming from inside. "Some woman seems to be in
distress. Rush and rescue her and
Anjali will be impressed," says Desabandhu. Murali rushes to the car, opens
the door, pulls out the people in it, and beats them up. He gets the woman out,
only to find to his dismay that she was pregnant, was only screaming in pain,
and was being taken to the hospital. An embarrassed Murali sees an amused Anjali
laughing at him, and gives an angry glare at Desabandhu. The scene was
picturised at Chennai and taking part in it were Kartik, Simran and Goundamani.
Canning the shots was cinematographer U.K. Senthilkumar, while Sunder C. guided
the artistes.
A train was hired for a ten-day shoot at Ooty where some crucial scenes were shot on the lead pair. Says Sunder C. about the film, "A normal human being has a life span of about 2,40,000 days. Out of these he spends just a few days on matters of the heart. Those few days he spends on 'love' would be his 'beautiful' days. My film is based on this premise."
