Recently a function was held in
Chennai for the release of 'Ennavale' cassettes. Lyricist Vairamuthu gave an
enthralling speech after releasing the cassettes. The following are the contents
of his harangue.
"It is high time the poets stopped the usage of oft-repeated words like
Nila(Moon), Maan(Dear), and Thendral(Breeze). Those words are badly in need of
some holidays. The Moon has waned conspicuously breeze refused to blow. There
are more number of stags in the lyrics than those are in the forests and
sanctuaries".
Vairamuthu quoted an incident, that took place involving Sivaji Ganesan and Poet
Kannadasan, two legendaries of Tamil film industry with lively interest.
Next he turned his attention to S.A.Rajkumar, the music director. As it is his
wont he made one bold declaration. "If a lyric has to achieve a success, it
must first reverberate on a large scale in the villages and hamlets. In recent
times, we hear many songs composed by S.A.Rajkumar in our villages".
We could understand that the noted lyricist makes a reference to the songs of 'Vanaththaipola'.
Unlike A.R.Rehman , S.A.Rajkumar does not give chances to Vairamuthu in all his
pictures. Yet the Poet is pleased to place his compliments for S.A.Rajkumar on
record. This shows his magnanimity and nobility of character.
It
was a shooting for the film, 'Badhri'. The shooting took place at a car shed
nearby the bus stand in Vadapalani. 'Badhri' is just the remake of the Telugu
movie, 'Thambudu'. Arun Prasad, who had been the director of the original Telugu
film, directs its Tamil version also.
Shots were taken in the car shed about the birthday celebrations in honor of
Bhoomikia. The birthday cake was placed on a green-colored old car. Bhoomika
blew out the lighted candles placed on the cake. She offered the first piece cut
from that cake into the mouth of Vijay; to the delight of his bosom friends
Vivek and Dhamu.
Whereas the actresses are known to come to the shooting spots in the company of
their mothers. But it was her father who accompanied Bhoomika to the shooting
spot in question. There were no superior airs about her.
When the shot was Okayed, Vijay hurriedly took shelter in his car. He did not
indulge in any idle talk. No gossip at all! He has trimmed his moustache.
No doubt, Vivek wore a smile. But he was seriously preparing his own script in
association with his friend Murugan. Dhamu was busy in his animated conversation
about Vaasthu, numerology etc.
As the details about the movie are secretly guarded, we requested the director
to throw some light about that film. But he informed us that he would be
providing all particulars about the film during the press meet to be held in the
first week of December. So saying, he rushed fast to extract work from his
technicians.
The
Suicide of Viji has shocked the Honorable Chief Minister Karunanidhi himself.
Viji had made her love publicity known in the newspapers of Saturday and Sunday
last. But she has chosen the ultimate way out to end her mental torture by
resorting to commit suicide by hanging herself.
When the matter came light, work was sent to the Chief Minister. On knowing the
sad news, Vijayakanth called up Kalaignar over his cell phone to share his
sorrow. The demise of Viji saddened the Chief Minister for quite some time. When
the health of Viji was jeopardized by the wrong treatment given by the Apollo
Hospital, Kalaignar was one among those who extended their helping hands to the
helpless actress.
Visibly, he was upset at the plight of the young actress. He shared his grief
with those who were around him. He lamented: "It has become customary for
some actresses to get disappointed in this way. Should this girl take her life
itself for the sake of love?
It is to noted that Viji had sent two audio cassettes to Kalaingar, on the date
of the incident.
Viji is survived in his family, by her father alone. She never took shelter in
the shadow of her relations. She had fallen in love with Director Ramesh despite
her knowledge about his previous marriage, as she was in dire necessity of
finding a person to take care of her after the demise of her own father. But as
destiny had it now Viji is no more. By the quirk of fate, her father is left
alone in the lurch.
In her handwritten letter to her advocate, Viji has stated that all her
properties would here after, belong to her father solely. But, heart-broken as
he is, the poor father says: "I have lost my dear daughter Viji herself. As
such, all these properties are of little importance to me. I will give away all
of them by way of charities to the poor and needy!"
Our hearts go out for him. May Viji's soul rest in peace!
