Kunguma Pottu Gounder |
With
his career on the move with the success of 'Ennamma Kannu' Satyaraj is back in
the limelight again. He has quite a few films in his kitty, one of them being 'Kunguma
Pottu Gounder'. G.N. Vishnuram, for his Ganga Gouri Productions, produces the
film. The banner has such films to his credit, like 'Ullathai Allitha', 'Mettukudi'
and 'Movvender'. This is the banner's ninth film. Paired with Satyaraj are
Rambha and Kausalya. Goundamani and Ramesh Khanna have been roped in to provide
the comic relief. Vinu Chakravarty plays a crucial role in the film.
Writing the screenplay and directing the film is
Sai Suresh and this is the director's second film. His first film was 'Moovender',
the Sharat Kumar starrer that he had directed under the name of Suraj. Sai
Suresh has had his apprenticeship with director Sunder C. The film's
story-dialogue is by T.K. Maheshwar. Artwork is by G.K., and stunts by Kunrathur
Babu. Sirpi composes the tunes, while Shanker cranks the camera.
Satyaraj and Rambha play the role of a married
couple. Vinu Chakravarthy plays Rambha's father and Kausalya a woman resented by
Rambha for her close proximity to
husband Satyaraj. Kandasamy is married to Alamelu a rustic woman who is very
possessive about her husband. Kandasamy did have a roving eye. His easy
relationship with Saraswati creates suspicion in the mind of Alamelu about her
husband's fidelity. Following a tiff she walks out of her house, and returns to
her parent's place. But her father persuades her to go right back to her
husband. Alamelu reluctantly agrees and as the father and daughter enter
Kandasamy's house, they are in for a shock. They find Saraswati reclining on a
swing and Kandasamy feeding her lovingly. An enraged Alamelu showers abuse on
her husband. Kandasamy's friend Chinnasamy who happens to come there tries
to console Alamelu, but gets slapped for his pains. Satyaraj played Kandasamy,
Rambha was wife Alamelu, Kausalya played Saraswati. Vinu Chakravarty was
Alamelu's
father and Goundamani, the hero's friend. As Sai Suresh guided the artistes,
Shanker canned the shots.
A song was picturised on the lead pair, with both in white outfit. Says Rambha, "I've got a more homely role here. Different from what I've done earlier. I play a young mother. Suraj is very good and I'll definitely get a good name." Says Satyaraj, "The main message of the film is that education is very important to all. This is the first time I'm acting with Rambha, and I feel excited like a kid. Goundamani and I have some good comedy scenes here." Says the director, "It is about a father's keen desire to somehow educate his son against all odds and the hurdles he faces in his endeavour."
