Mr.
Narathar (Sathyaraj,
Divya Unni, Abbas, Mumtaz) Shooting
is going on at a fast pace for the Sathyaraj - Divya Unni starrer 'Mr. Narathar'.
Directed by Shakti Chidambaram, the film is produced by Sri Yadav for Sunder
Theaters. The Sathyaraj - Chidambaram combination had given a successful film in
'Ennamma Kannu'. And this magic is expected to work once again in 'Mr. Narathar'
too. Paired with Sathyaraj is Divya Unni and there is
another romantic team in Abbas and Mumtaz. Deepika, Thalaivasal Vijay, Kuyili,
M.S.Viswanathan, Indu, Kaka Radhakrishnan, Alex, Bharati, Madan Bob, Pandu,
Shriman, and Devan form the supporting
cast. Pyramid Natarajan producer-turned-actor and director P. Vasu also play
crucial roles in the film. Kovai Sarala, Vivek and Chinny Jayant are roped in
for the comedy. Sirpi sets the tune to the lyrics written by
various lyricists like Kalaikumar, Pazhanibharathi, P. Vijay and Arivumathy.
This is Sirpi's 50th film. Illaiyaraja and his daughter Pavatharani have sung a
song for the film. One of the romantic songs was picturised on Sathyaraj and
Divya Unni at the coastal area of Muttam. Another group song was shot on the
lead pair that consisted of M.S. Viswanathan,
Bharati, Kaka Radhakrishnan, Talaivasal Vijay, Indu, Shriman, and about 50 group
dancers. The 'Thadakai Malai' that finds a place in the Ramayana was another
location for a romantic song picturised on the lead pair. Reportedly this is the first film crew to shoot
on the hill. Vehicles cannot enter the rocky terrain. Sathyaraj and Divya Unni
had to walk about two kilometers to reach the place. Vasundhara Das (Hey Ram,
Shakalaka Baby fame) has sung the duet with O.S. Arun. Comedians Vivek and Kovai
Sarala play the roles of 'Careful' Kesavan and 'Assault' Ambujam respectively.
Reportedly their comedy will be on the lines of old timers N.S.K. and Madhuram.
"This will be a film that follows the Sathyaraj style as in 'Ennamma Kannu'
and
will be a complete unpretentious entertainer. The mischief created by Narathar
always has a good result and this film has incidents supporting it," says
the director. A stunt scene was picturised at a location
situated between Vivekananda Rock and Thiruvalluvar Statue. Many small shops
were erected around the area and stunt master Pammal Ravi choreographed the
fights. The shots were canned by cinematographer Niwas and editing is done by
Sunil. A line that Sathyaraj repeats throughout the film is - "Even my
genuine, hearty laugh is mistaken for a teasing, ribald one!" The producer
has planned to release the audiocassette of the film's dialogues along with the
release of the film.
