Bharathiraja's Tajmahal didn't meet with success. The hero of that film was Manoj, Bharathi Raja's son. Therefore he is doubly serious in directing this film. The film deals with the emotional upsurges between two friends. None is willing to give any quarter to the other. Bharathiraja conducts the shootings of the film at Muttam, his favourite location.

"I was planning to cast Murali in 'Alaigal Oyvathillai' itself. But the time has come now alone. I am happy to direct him" says Bharathi raja. Murali is highly elated to act under his direction.

"The fisherman's role I have donned in 'Kadal Pookkal' is an entirely new character for me. All of you would praise me for my sterling performance in this rare character. I have reached a fine dimension under the direction of Bharathiraja" Murali speaks with satisfaction, zeal and zest. Many expect Murali to bag award for his fine action in this movie.

Pradhiksha and Sindhu are the new facets introduced as heroines. Bharathiraja gives a fine certificate to the heroine of the movie, Pradiksha. "She would become another Radha in due course. Her acting potential is great". Bharathi Raja has selected a story of fisher folk. Chennai film circles expect that the film may turn out to be another 'Chemmeen'. The film has given a re-entry for Janakaraj. Bharathi Raja has vowed to being out the best from Vaiyapuri. With a view to make him a great comedian, the direction has given him a fine role as 'Era Pandian'. Vaiyapuri has performed the character with high hopes and in great spirits. Sumitra's daughter, Uma, who had acted in 'Veera Nadai' has also bagged an important role in the film.

Bharathiraja is so sure of the grand success of this film. People say that this picture would be his swan song. Bharathiraja has told an interview that he would enter into politics after presenting this film to the public as a blockbuster. Hence the filmgoers' craze for this film.

The producer is Sivasakthi Pandian. But for all practical purposes, Bharathiraja himself had acted as the acting producer, it seems.

The failure of Tajmahal has stirred him tot he core. He will reach the pinnacle of glory once again through this film.

In the line of 'Alaigal Oyvathillai' and 'Kadalora Kavithaigal' , 'Kadal Pookal' would talk of a seaside story. All of us are eager what the great director has to offer us this time. We wish him very well.
